About the brand
Daum is the Maison of light and colours, where the know-how is unique, and creativity sees no limit. Born from earth, sand and minerals, the crystal Daum fusions in contact with fire, and transforms into spectacular objects for our interiors, art pieces and jewellery. Daum continues to narrate its story by developing sculptural pieces revealing the beauty of women, of flora and fauna. From the Ecole de Nancy, to Art Decoratif, Art Nouveau and the Art Deco movement, the Maison reinvents itself over time. More than 350 encounters would animate the creations of the manufacturer, with art icons such as Majorelle, Dali, Arman, César, Villeglé, Etienne or Texier, and also major signatures in the universe of design such as Tallon, McConnico, Massaud and Ghion. Daum has not missed any of the magic rendezvous between artistic creations and modern know-how, this ever renewing alliance of art and craftsmanship.
With 140 years of an exceptional knowhow, Daum has always renewed itself through innovation and creation, from glass to crystal, to crystal paste. From a family story to a universal heritage, Daum transforms, while perpetuating the excellence of its know-how. Since 1968, “crystal paste” has become the identity of the Maison. This lost-wax technique and the historical place of the city of Nancy establish Daum as a unique crystal manufacturer. Through a long and complex process: from the sculpting, the lost-wax casting, to the foundry and the final piece in crystal paste, the craftsmen of the manufacturer write history with their mastery of the material and colours through a palette of 40 shades. The moiré effects, that translucent mineral or frosted finish, and those subtle harmonies unique to objects in Daum crystal paste, are the secret of an entirely artisanal creation process, transmitted from generation to generation.
A name that describes a story of family, men, women, know-how, material, and of time, Daum, one of the most beautiful French crystal manufacturers with 140 years of creation, becomes a living heritage.
